LIFEGUARDING
The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Generation 9 National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) including the use of the rescue board/PXB is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK & Ireland and is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs within the leisure industry from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager.
On successful completion of the course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard.
Our courses run over 5 days and each day runs from 8.00am - 17.30pm with the assessment on the last afternoon/evening of the course.
The price includes the NPLQ course, examination fee & the qualification is valid for 24 months.
The Certificate must be renewed within the validity period.
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
Now in its 9th edition The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification has been developed in direct response to comprehensive industry consultation.
It serves to constantly improve standards of lifeguarding and ensure that public safety remains in the forefront of everything we do. This course will therefore prepare you for the essential role of the lifeguard.
The course follows a document entitled “The lifeguard” and is split into 3 sections:

The Lifeguard, Swimming Pool & Supervision

Intervention, Rescue & Emergency Action Plan

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & First Aid
Emergency First Aid At Work-
(Bolt on)
This qualification can be added to your existing National Pool Lifeguard course (NPLQ) with no additional hours required.
On successful completion of the NPLQ you will gain an additional certification valid for 3 years.
If taken separately the Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification requires an additional days training and can cost up to £60.00.
National Pool Lifeguard
Qualification (Refresher)
A one/two day course for candidates who wish to renew their National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
Candidates may renew their qualification only within the period of validity of their existing qualification and evidence of 20 hours of competency.
The assessment usually starts at 2.30/3.00pm on the last day of the full course and can take up to 4 hours to complete.
Emergency Response Programme (Swimming Pools)
The Emergency Response Certificate (Swimming Pools) is a Certificate of Water Rescue Competence for staff working in a facility where there is a swimming pool but where there is no direct poolside supervision. Designed to train ancillary staff to back up and support the lifeguard team (if available) and staff to respond to an emergency.
In addition, the qualification will apply where pool operators wish to provide a suitable programme of training and independent assessment for staff who may act in support of the lifeguard team. This is not a Lifeguard qualification.
Emergency Response (Pool) is valid for 24 months. The Certificate must be renewed within the validity period.
